Halloween Party

In the spirit of Halloween, the residents of 511 Wealthy held a housewarming Halloween party. Many friends gathered in a vast array of costumes to celebrate. See if you can recognize anyone in the pictures.

I12 on North Manitou Island

So here they are. I12 residents and friends exlporing territory off the northwest coast of Michigan. The land was found to be great for settling with gently rolling wooded terrain and plentiful in fruits and berries. Check out the photo log of our expedition.

Leaving I12

Its a sad reality of life, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. I12 was a good thing. It was a place where friends gathered, neighborhood children were welcomed, and feasts were cooked. There was laughing, and sharing, and jubilant celebrations that took place in that small, humble apartment. For two great years the fun and good times were unceasing. Then the lease ran out and everyone went their seperate ways. Here is a gallery of some last memories as the I12 crew cleaned up their place before they gave it back to the authorities.

I12 at the wedding

On August 13, 2005, Sam and Christina were married (to each other) in Ann Arbor. Most of the I12 crew was there, and many of us played a role in the ceremony. The first pictures are in (from Luke), so everyone who has any in digital form should upload them to the wedding gallery.

Camping in Algonquin

A few weeks ago, Allison, Christina, Naomi and I went for a few days of backpacking in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario. It rained a lot, the mosquitos were out in full force, and I’m not going to say there weren’t some pretty miserable stretches. That said, we enjoyed the forest occasionally and each other’s company, and it was good on the whole. I’ve posted some pictures.

Make Your Own Routes

It was mentioned around here a while ago that it would be really nice if Google Maps would let you define your own route between two points, instead of just making you take the route it thought it was most efficient. Then you could compare the distances of different routes. At the time I thought it would be really hard to do with a web interface. That just goes to show how much I know about web technology. The Gmaps pedometer does exactly that, and it’s really easy to use. For example, here’s the bike route I took to and from work yesterday:

T-shirts!

So, we’ve decided it is time that we make our love of I12 known to the world! Hence, t-shirt making is in the works. The t-shirt will be from $8.00 to $13.00, depending on how many people buy them, the design, and the color. There has been much brain-storming among the current I12 residents about shirt decisions. This includes color (we’ve narrowed it down to normal red, brick red, orange, yellow, light green, normal green, light blue, normal blue, brown, and white, white being the cheapest.) Design options are a sketch of the I12 buzzer (website logo), a motto such as “it’s a lifestyle”, the dates aug 2003 to 2005, a drawing of an eye next to a 12, and twelve eyes. These can be on the front, back and sleeve, each spot costing an additional $2.40 per shirt. The design I’m leaning toward is a white T-shirt with black writing, with the I12 buzzer sketch on the front, and on the back, It’s a lifestyle. with August 2003 - August 2005 smaller underneath it. So, please let me know if you want a shirt, (you know you do!) and what kind of design, color, etc. you’d like so I can order them in the next couple of weeks. Yea for I12 shirts! (And for my first I12 post!)

Google Maps

Google maps is pretty cool and it just got cooler. Ive been using it a lot to find my way to paritioners houses. On July 9 I was trying to figure out the scale of the map alas there was no way to tell. So I sent an email to Google. Today I look and sure enough they have added a scale line in the corner. So all and all im pretty pleased with google maps. Im just hoping that the goverment isnt tracking my movements using the addresses I enter.
